19th Congress of the Spanish Society for Biotechnology (BIOTEC 2025), Barcelona, July 15–18, 2025

Fundación MEDINA participated in one of the most important national scientific forums in the field of biotechnology, the BIOTEC 2025 Congress, organized by the Spanish Society for Biotechnology (SEBiot). The congress took place from July 15 to 18 in Barcelona and brought together national and international experts to share the latest advances in biotechnology.
Researchers from Fundación MEDINA played a prominent role at the congress. Víctor González Menéndez, Senior Researcher in the Microbiology Area and member of the BIOTEC 2025 Scientific Committee, was responsible for coordinating the Microbial Biotechnology section. Additionally, Gioele Pecin, a predoctoral researcher at Fundación MEDINA, presented the progress of his research within the framework of the European doctoral network MAGic-MOLFUN. Gioele contributed with the oral presentation titled “OSMAC and Metabolomic Engineering Strategies to Improve the Chemical Information of Stanjemonium spectabile and Enhance the Production of a Novel Compound”, focused on the discovery of a novel fungal compound with potent cytotoxic activity.
The congress also featured a collaborative project between the Rovira i Virgili University and Fundación MEDINA, presented by Daniel Guerra-Mateo, with the oral communication “Exploring the diversity and metabolic potential of Preussia from xerophytic and marine habitats in the Mediterranean basin”.
