Fundación MEDINA brings science closer to society at the European Researchers’ Night
Granada, September 29, 2025
Fundación MEDINA once again took part in the European Researchers’ Night, held last Friday, September 26, in Granada. This international science outreach event aims to bring research and its protagonists closer to society, showcasing the human and accessible side of science through interactive activities.
The day began with workshops for high school students, who had the opportunity to discover first-hand how scientists work. Through hands-on experiments, they discovered how natural products from fungi and bacteria are used in drug discovery, and the vital role microorganisms play in human health.
In the afternoon, MEDINA’s stand welcomed families, children, and the general public, who came to learn more about the MEDINA’s research activity. Visitors took part in a variety of workshops and stepped into the shoes of researchers, experiencing what it means to be a “scientist for a day”.
In addition, several projects in which MEDINA is involved were presented, both at the national level (NEWNATPA and NOVEDGE projects) and at the European level (Cell Painting, NanoBRET, EUREMAP, COMBO, PROSPLIGN, MARBLES and ROBOCOOP-EU), as well as the doctoral networks HOTBIO and MAGic-MOLFUN.
Through its participation in this initiative, Fundación MEDINA reaffirms its commitment to science outreach, bringing biomedical research closer to all audiences and inspiring scientific vocations from an early age.
