Research

Research at MEDINA
MEDINA has an extensive experience in Drug Discovery from Microbial Natural Product Libraries and focuses its research in High Throughput screening (HTS) programs in a variety of Therapeutic Areas: Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Oncology and Neurodegeneration.

Research in Natural Products
Our ongoing investigations of basic questions in functional microbial diversity and secondary metabolism are directed at improving the quality of our microbial and natural products collections while advancing the understanding of how and why microorganisms

Therapeutic areas
Fundación MEDINA approaches to drug discovery are focused on the search for novel therapeutics in infectious and parasitic diseases (including new agents against multiresistant nosocomial Gram negative bacteria, tuberculosis, kinetoplastids and malaria), oncology, neurodegeneration and rare diseases.

Core Scientific Facilities
MEDINA’s state-of-the-art facilities are designed to ensure that the laboratories meet the needs of the functions they have for each department of the Foundation, Microbiology, Natural Product Chemistry and Screening & Validation of Targets.

Collaboration Partners
We partner in numerous research networks and consortia granted by the Spanish and EU funding programmes in diverse areas of drug discovery and applied biotechnology. We develop active collaborations with national and international organizations

Scientific Publications
Regularly, MEDINA publishes in scientific journals focused on microbiology, screening and chemistry of natural products.
