▪ 9th European Marine Natural Products Conference, ECMNO – Glasgow, UK

MEDINA, as part of the consortia Pharmasea, attended the 9th European Marine Natural Products Conference held in Glasgow, Scotland at the newly built Technical Innovation Centre (TIC), University of Strathclyde. The conference was jointly organized by four Scottish Universities: University of Strathclyde, University of Aberdeen, Heriot-Watt University and University of Highlands and Islands; three EU consortia: SeaBioTech, PharmaSea, and BlueGenics along with the Phytochemical Society of Europe. This Euro-conference aimed the stimulation of young researcher’s engagement in the field of marine natural products as well as their involvement at the forefront. Senior experts and rising stars of the future presented their work in a mixture of plenary and poster sessions. Besides the traditional topics of isolation & structure elucidation, synthesis and biological activity of marine natural products, the Conference also included topics on marine polymers and biomaterials from marine sources as well as new methods of dereplication involving metabolomics and innovative perspectives in marine industrial biotechnology.
