▪ Averting the post-antibiotic era – challenges and developments, 3rd of November 2018, Hillerød – Denmark

The NNF's Copenhagen Bioscience Conference “Averting the post-antibiotic era - challenges and developments”, held from 31 October to 3 November 2018, was the 15th Copenhagen Bioscience Conference. It was organised by The Novo Nordisk Foundation in collaboration with The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability and brought together scientists across several research fields for discussions of possible solutions against the increasing antibiotic resistance among bacterial pathogens. Four important topics in connection with infectious diseases were covered: Infection mechanisms, antibiotic resistance and tolerance, the importance of the human microbiome, and development of novel antibiotics. Dra Olga Genilloud, scientific director at MEDINA, discussed on new antibiotics and treatments pointing out new ways to discover interesting compounds issued from soil bacteria.
