MEDINA received the Excellence in Research prize for its research line about the discovery of new anti-infective agents.
Since 2010, MEDINA’s researchers have developed more than 17 projects focused on the R&D of new innovative medicines for the treatment of infective diseases. More than 130 antimicrobial compounds have been identified through this activity and a portfolio of 5 new molecular families have been selected, 2 of them eventually being the subject of patent applications. The results of the different projects have been published in more than 76 scientific papers, all related to different aspects of the research.
MEDINA is developing an integral and singular initiative for the discovery of new antibiotics from Natural Products through collaborative research and multidisciplinary projects, all focused on contributing to the actions that promote the fight against multiresistant bacteria and as part of the WHO global health strategy.
