Natural Products in Drug Discovery and Human health, PSE Meeting, July 28-31, Lisbon – Portugal

Dr. Fernando Reyes, Head of Chemistry at MEDINA, and Dr. Mercedes Pérez Bonilla, Post-doctoral Researcher of the same department attended the Natural Products in Drug Discovery and Human health PSE Meeting celebrated in Lisbon from the 28th to the 31st of July. Fernando discussed the strategies followed in the determination of the full structure of a family of large marine antifungal polyketides using a combination of NMR and bioinformatic gene cluster analysis in his talk “Structural elucidation of large polyketide macrolides using a combination of bioinformatic gene cluster analysis and NMR spectroscopy” whereas Mercedes presented the structure and antibiotic properties as imipenem potentiators of a new family of microbial depsipeptides in her talk entitled “Krisynomycins B and C, two novel cyclodepsipeptides as Imipenem activity potentiators against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
